The house is steeped in history and has in the past been a coaching inn, a working farm and is recorded as being the last tavern in the village of Llanegryn. It is recorded as having a reputation of knowing adventurous times in the past, when smugglers haunted the nearby coast and Cefn Coch was the meeting place of many a party who stole along the lanes with goods to be conveyed by ponies into the mountains.
